Preparing Sushi Roll

For sushi rice preparation, please see “Sushi Rice“.

Step One

Put a nori sheet on top of a bamboo mat (makisu) and spread the sushi rice on top of the nori sheet.

Step Two

Place the ingredients lengthwise on the rice and roll up the bamboo mat, pressing forward to shape the sushi into a cylinder.

Step Three

Press the bamboo mat firmly and remove it from the sushi.

Step Four

Cut the rolled sushi into bite-sized pieces (usually 8 pieces).
